We are in the business of Quality Dental Care and our team is hand picked with that goal in mind. At the office of Rose H Bailey DDS, we provide the best dental care while providing compassionate care and a friendly environment our patients can relax in.
Rose H. Bailey – Dentist
Rose Bailey began her career in dentistry as a dental hygienist in 1978 in the office of Dr. Robert Phillips. A single mom with two children, she worked there for 13 years before going back to school to become a dentist herself, and she graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1996.
“Integration of my education and experience of 16 years as a dentist and 18 years as a dental hygienist has provided me with a strong foundation as a dental professional. As more information points to the link between oral health and other systemic problems, I strive toward helping you attain overall good health. I appreciate the opportunity to give my clinical skills and my relationships with my patients to help people and the wider community.
“I will spend time with you and listen to you as I’m interested in helping you with an understanding that you are an individual with specific needs and requests. My accumulated years of experience and education will allow me to tailor your treatment for today and into your future. That is my commitment to you.”
Juan Carlos Sagawa – Dentist
Juan Carlos Sagawa was born in Lima, Peru in 1975. He is the son of Sonia del Pozo, a Peruvian pharmacist and Juan Sagawa, a Japanese engineer. From the time he was young, Juan Carlos was exposed to many new cultures while traveling with his mother as she furthered her education. Juan Carlos speaks Spanish, English, and German.
Years later, in Peru, Juan Carlos graduated from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru and then continued into a Dental Science Master Program. Three years later he moved to the United States to complete the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and was asked to join the University of Connecticut’s two-year Fellowship in General Dentistry.
From Connecticut, Juan Carlos came to Olympia and joined a community health center, serving the low-income population for 6 years. In February 2013, he joined Dr. Rose H. Bailey as her Associate Dentist and loves everything about his new experience.
Juan Carlos enjoys biking, hiking, and surfing and is a huge fan of soccer. He also loves dancing salsa, which is how he met his wife Kati. They live in Tumwater and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, but always make a point to travel and learn about new places and cultures.
I have been in the dental field for 15 years and I am proud to say that all of those 15 years have been with Dr. Rose Bailey. I started out as a dental assistant, then returned to school 2 years ago to become a dental hygienist. I understand the culture of our office and it has helped me to manage as well. I consider myself fortunate to be able to help the team in many ways because of my time in this office. In addition to my dental skills I also speak Spanish.
I am committed to providing our patients with treatment that is gentle and compassionate, along with building a trusting relationship with each patient so they can understand and value their dental care.
I live in the downtown Olympia area and have 3 adult children. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, dancing, and Zumba. I have recently taken up bicycling as a new venture with my boyfriend Dwayne of 6 years!
I have been in dentistry for 7 years, working for the office for the majority of that time. I am married with 3 children (15 yo step daughter, 2 year old son, 1 year old son.)
I enjoy spending time with my family, going camping, and crafting.
The thing I love most about the office is the compassionate way we take care of our patients. We provide quality, patient-centered dentistry to everyone.
I have been a dental hygienist since 2005. I started working for Dr. Bailey in the summer of 2011.
I have always loved my job as a dental hygienist, however since I became a part of Dr. Bailey’s team in the summer of 2011, I have begun to love my job even more! We have an excellent team here with a dedicated leader. I really enjoy working with everyone and it has been a pleasure getting to know all the amazing patients of this practice. I enjoy being able to provide a comfortable yet thorough cleaning. I want my patients to feel secure that when they see me they will have quality care that is virtually pain-free! I also believe in education, not lecturing! It’s important for us to inform our patients about the condition of their mouths and any improvements that can be made, but this can and should be done without producing feelings of shame or guilt! I love laughing with and getting to know my patients on a personal level, and I feel very lucky to work in an office where this is encouraged!
I am married with a 5 year old son and we are currently expecting our first daughter in May 2013! Aside from working as a hygienist for Dr. Bailey two days a week, I also own a photography business. My family and my photography business keep me pretty busy outside of the dental world, but I love the mix that I currently have between my technical side as a hygienist and my artistic side as a photographer!
I was born in Southeast Alaska, but grew up in little Weiser, Idaho. My husband, Arlis, serves in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Ft. Lewis, so that is how we ended up in lovely Western Washington! I recently graduated from South Puget Sound Community College’s Dental Assisting program, and was very fortunate to start my career here in Dr. Bailey’s office!
My most favorite thing about being a dental assistant is the daily interactions I get with all kinds of different patients. I love to learn about other people’s lives, and to hear their stories. I feel like I learn just as much from my patients as they do when they visit our office. It is so very important to me that each patient I meet leaves smiling!
When I am not working in the office, I like to spend time with my husband and our rat terrier, Dexter. We love to explore new and exciting places, but also enjoy relaxing at home or with family and friends.
My name is Lea Chandler I am a dental assistant. I graduated from the SPSCC Dental Assisting program in 2013. I am privileged to become a part of a great dental team. I have a passion for helping others, I strive to help patients feel comfortable and relieved during their dental visits.
When I’m not pursuing my dental assisting career I’m spending my remaining time with my husband and son. We enjoy outdoor activities together. I also barrel race when I’m not busy with family activities. I am excited to become part of such an amazing team.
I have worked in the medical field for over 30 years before joining Dr. Bailey and team 8 years ago.
I have very much enjoyed the change to dentistry. Not only do we have an opportunity to make a difference in the health of our patients, we also improve their self-esteem and confidence by giving them a beautiful smile.
My husband, Pat, and I live on a little plot of land in South Thurston County. We have 2 grown children and several critters. In my free time I enjoy gardening, painting and woodworking.
